In New York City’s Grand Central Station at 11AM on a Friday, Apple fulfilled my order for the iPhone 17 Pro. With what seemed like a reinforced squad of retail personnel, my wait was over by the time I completed my recession into a comfortable leaning position. Then, in a matter of minutes the device encased in orange colored aluminum was unboxed and carrier-activated.
The tactile and optical feedback hit me first. The brushed metal felt like that of the MacBook’s chassis and the uniform edge that bordered the back was noticeably rounded. Visually I found myself mesmerized by the way the store LEDs bounced off of the contours of the back plate.
I quickly set up the essential apps, including my go-to chat app, lastpass, and discord (I use this as an airdrop-alternative between Android and Apple) with the store’s WiFi, then left the premises, descending into the vast openness of Grand Central’s main concourse before I stopped and took some iPhone pics.
That’s all for now. I’ll end this with a bonus clip of the air.
Also found it interesting that the color choices were NYC colors (blue and orange)!
