Notes - This place, in my heart, is rated at at 10.0 or higher. The joy I get from even approaching the vicinity of this place is evergreen. A big part of this was my grandfather. It was our favorite place. Sure, there were other better restaurants out there, but if it came down to us two, we were always happy to go here. Not only was the food dependably excellent, but I felt a sense of comfort and peace being here. Like a ritual, we would open the ringing door, say hello to the boss, take our seats, exchange smiles and hellos with the wife and son, futilely look at the menu on the wall knowing exactly what will be ordered, ask the boss for a bottle of soju and the two stews, hold the rice, then the boss would gently toss a plate of hors d'oeuvre on our table on the house, and after a firm thank you, we were on our way.

Notes - This new nehngmyeon joint specializes in Pyeongyang Nehngmyeon, that originates from Pyeongyang, now the capital of North Korea. Pyeongyang Nehngmyeon is known for having bland broth with no ice and noodles that are less bouncy than their counterpart (Hahmheung Nehngmyeon), and due to the blandness, isn't very popular. The nehngmyeon here had a slight savoriness and sweetness to it which makes it a nice introduction to the Pyeongyang-style, like the DMZ of nehngmyeons.

Notes - It was at this restaurant when I first learned about this Korean dish called μλκ΅μ (Ahn-Dohng Guk-Shee). A noodle dish that comes from the city of Ahn-Dohng (hence the name), this dish is with broad-ish noodles in thick-ish broth. The pictures do not do it justice; the wheat and soy flour based noodles are deliciously chewy and not mushy like the pictures might suggest, and the flavor of the broth is out of this world. It was so good I got a little upset that I only found out about it that day.

Notes - The second part in its name means Grilled Fish, as in it specializes in grilled fish dishes. The number of fish dishes were about three-four-ish. The fish dish I wish to eat and finish when I'm here is the mackerel fish. Anyway, they share on a signboard the sources of their catches, which was Norway for the mackerel. They also have on the wall a grid of signatures from celebrities that I wish to join when this blog makes it big.
